 Lake Lost

Crooked Lake

Boat wake

Long white dock

Geese flock

Wavelets tap

Calm lap

Rocky shore

Skiff’s moor

Petoskey stone

Sits alone

Windy now

Reeds bow

Empty chair

Willows bare

Chris-craft

Fore and aft

Varnished sleek

Never weak

Shining sun

Days of fun
Summer breeze
memories

Lost in time

No longer mine

I actually read this aloud to myself and the feel of the words in my mouth was delicious. Thank you for this!

Wow, I liked this :) I love to see when people do poetry in Idol because everyone does things so differently and it's cool to see the style here. I like the way this reads the way that memories sometimes feel, like little flashes in your mind.

I like how smoothly this works - each quartet building a new link in the chain.

That last line echoes of such longing. "No longer mine."

Just three words, but they say it all. Hugs! You definitely added beauty to brevity.

Ah! Right there! From the first line. I love that it takes me right into the heart of the place and the time and the feeling. Yes!

Succinct but very descriptive. Nicely done!

Thia strikes me as a melancholy nursery rhyme.

I really like the vivid imagery in combination with a vary spare style, and what a pang the ending brings. I know it well...
